Ellie and Leslie on the Summer Solstice

June 21, 2023 - though most 'summer people' enjoy the heat and sometimes humidity of the summer season - here in the Northeast things have been on the milder side making life far more bearable - especially combined with smoke from Canadian wildfires and other surreal climate changes this year.

For my friend Leslie and I - this was a long planned visit to her home in Great Neck, New York with its stunning panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and NY skyline including another bridge - the Throngs Neck Bridge.

It was a day filled with fun and laughter and an occasional metaphysical surprise. Leslie is a talented artist and musician - wife, mom and grandmother. We go back to the early 1970's when her son Randy and my daughter Zsia attended the same nursery school in Brooklyn. There was lots to reminisce about and things to be grateful for in our lives today.

We talked about different topics agreeing that Covid changed many things for most people - leaving its mark on society - at times feeling like a new reality. But that's the way the simulation works. Change creates new horizons and ways of looking at life until the day you finally understand its nature and who we are in the chaos of connections.

Leslie finds synchronicities in many things - considering them messages from the other side - which they generally are. It overlaps into my world of ongoing dialogues between this realm and the otherside.

Here is what happened on this summer day as we headed back to Leslie's house.

As Leslie slowly and carefully backed out of her parking spot - we suddenly physically heard what sounded like a bang - the kind of sound that makes you shutter as if you've just hit something.

We got out of the car and looked around - but there was nothing - her gorgeous white Bentley - in that moment becoming a vehicle that took us from this reality to another because standing there was my deceased husband Ralph who died 17 yeas ago.

For decades, Leslie and her husband, Larry, and Ralph and I were couples who shared many adventures. We all still mourn Ralph but sometimes his way of saying hello leaves a lot to be desired. He used to smell up my car with his cigarette smoke until I forbid it, so he stopped.

Today - in the never-ending story that connects all of us over the bridges of time and space - Ralph returned to say hello - but timed his return with a bit too much enthusiasm. All's well that ends well - Ralph sending his love and regards to all. Back at you.

It was a Great Day in Great Neck. Thanks for joining Leslie and I on our journey and please remember to stay safe this summer.
