Female photographer, Sam O'Connor, took these unique photos of my friend Dee Kennedy
after returning from a shoot on the Island of Kaua'i, where one finds the famous Na Pali Coast.
When developed, each photo strangely depicted Dee superimposed over the Hawaiian settings
yet the photos of Dee were shot in San Francisco. The story behind the shoot is posted below.
Synchronicity Principle teaches us that there are no accidents.
Gaia, The Mother Goddess
Gaia is the primal Greek goddess personifying the Earth. She is a primordial and chthonic deity in the Ancient Greek pantheon and considered a Mother Goddess or Great Goddess. Her equivalent in the Roman pantheon was Terra. Hesiod's Theogony tells how, after Chaos, arose broad-breasted Gaia the everlasting foundation of the gods of Olympus. She brought forth Uranus, the starry sky, her equal, to cover her, the hills, and the fruitless deep of the Sea, Pontus, "without sweet union of love," out of her own self through parthenogenesis. But afterwards, as Hesiod tells it, she lay with her son, Uranus, and bore the World-Ocean Oceanus, Coeus and Crius and the Titans Hyperion and Iapetus, Theia and Rhea, Themis, Mnemosyne, and Phoebe of the golden crown, and lovely Tethys. After them was born Cronus the wily, youngest and most terrible of her children, and he hated his lusty sire.

Energies of Hawaiian Goddess Pele
The Volcanoes in Hawaii are active in 2008.
Evolution of Hawaiian Volcanoes
Pele's home is believed to be the fire pit Halema'uma'u at the summit caldera of Kilauea, Earth's most active volcano, but her domain encompasses all volcanic activity on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hawaiian legends tell that eruptions were caused by Pele, the beautiful but tempestuous Goddess of Volcanoes, during her frequent moments of anger. Pele was both revered and feared; her immense power and many adventures figured prominently in ancient Hawaiian songs and chants. She could cause earthquakes by stamping her feet and volcanic eruptions and fiery devastations by digging with the Pa'oe, her magic stick. An oft-told legend describes the long and bitter quarrel between Pele and her older sister Namakaokahai that led to the creation of the chain of volcanoes that form the islands.

The Triple Spiral Motif - Serpent Symbology Ouroboros - The Goddess Danu
Danu is thought to be the great mother of the race of the Tuatha De Danaan, the ancient tribe of the Celtic people. She is the great goddess of flowing rivers and the life force that they bring to the earth. She is associated with agriculture, cultivation, and the nurturing of the land. She represents the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, as demonstrated by the plants of the natural world, just as the humble acorn buried in the ground becomes the mighty sacred oak tree. Some scholars believe Danu and the Sumerian God - Anu are the same deity. Based on the evidence of place-names, such as the river Danube, Danu may have been worshiped throughout the Celtic world. The presence of a goddess named Danu in Hindu mythology, associated with water and mother of a race of Asuras called the Danavas, may indicate a very ancient Proto-Indo-European origin for this figure.
The Story Behind The Photo Shoot
by Dee Kennedy (www.deeva13.com)
My friend Sam and I have practiced Goddess worship together for years, connected through our spiritual circle, which is a fusion of numerous ancient systems, including Egyptian, Taoist and Celtic Pagan. I've been the Assistant Priestess in the circle for 7 years, under the training of H.P. Suzy Peltier, who is currently initiating me as a 2nd degree High Priestess. The circle has bestowed me with the gifts of many strange and beautiful events that have blown my mind yet always help me to 'remember' and 'awaken' to the magic that is all around in the web we weave. The photo shoot above is a perfect example of this.
As events unfolded ... Sam had just returned from a photo shoot in Kaua'i, Hawaii. I told her that I wanted to do a shoot to submit to a tattoo magazine Skin and Ink, I had connected with, featuring my unique tattoo.
Sam and I chose Sutro Baths as our location, a very energetically vibrant and mysterious area in San Francisco, right on the ocean. We found caves and several beautiful areas that seemed well suited for the shoot.
We did a weather spell the night before, asking the Goddess to bless us with a beautiful day and NO fog! She replied to us with the perfect day.
The first roll of film Sam shot had some photos from Kaua'i on it, which she was eager to develop, but decided to finish during our shoot. Five hours, and five rolls of film later, we were satisfied that we had taken some amazing shots. Sam had used a professional camera that was not digital, so we didn't have the luxury of seeing the images right away, which created much anticipation about how they would turn out when developed.
And things did develop in a way one would expect from Goddess energies. A few days later, Sam called, excitement in her voice. "Okay, you really ARE a witch... You're not going to believe your eyes when you see these photos!"
Later that day, as we went through the photos, all we could do was laugh! Sam's beautiful shots of the Na Pali Coast line and dolphins, that had been taken in Kaua'i, were superimposed over the images she took of me. We talked about how the Goddess Pele really took charge of the shoot.
Normally when photos are superimposed, they are ruined, but as you can see from the photos above, each image of me aligns in an ethereal way over one taken in mystical Kaua'i, creating messages to be translated by the viewer. The symmetry of art and Goddess is magical and flows like the rhythm of creation from one to another.
Synchronicity is always at play when you work with Goddess energy. SHE has many ways of communicating her message to us, we just have to be open to hear it.
I designed my tattoo and called it "The Creation of Eve". It shows a triple spiral, copied from the stone carvings at Newgrange, Ireland, birthing the Tree of Life, with a red apple on a branch and a green serpent on another, and wraps right around the lower part of my torso, or around the 1st and 2nd Chakras.
The symbology is very important, including the placement. The apple was very sacred to the Celts, as inside it was a blueprint of sacred geometry, the pentacle. The pentacle symbolizes the 5 elements that create life encompassed by the circle, symbolizing the never ending energy of God/Goddess. The serpent symbolizes the sacred sexual power and life force of the kundalini energy, that is held at the base of the spine (1st Chakra), which undulates up the spine to the crown through a process known as Alchemy. The Tree Of Life, wrapping around the 2nd Chakra, is symbolic of the key patterns that are created by sacred geometry, revealing wisdom to the keen student who meditates deep into its frequency. The Egyptians called it the "tree in which life and death are enclosed". This is also a symbol of the number 13. The triple spiral is the Great mother, God/Goddess, Creatrix of all things, spiraling constantly and always in motion, creating, weaving and evolving. The spiral is green which is the colour of the Heart Chakra and Healing.
