I love lighthouses having visited them at home and abroad when the opportunity presented itself. After posting a pic of my new lighthouse canvas on Facebook - a friend wrote on my wall, "It's interesting that on the left it appears as if someone is outside your window taking a photo?"
That's a mirror and a reflection of me taking the pic of the lighthouse. Behind me are full length sliding glass door that lead to the terrace facing the park and Verrazano Bridge. My apartment is mostly 'open' with 3 skylights, large windows, sliding glass doors, and lots of mirrors in different designs.
Today the "open" look is part of the architecture of many homes and buildings. Windows and mirrors enhance the size of the space creating interesting perspectives. Having a view often acts as a tool to reduce anxiety and calm the mind. It is just as important as furnishings and a temperature controlled environment.
