Social Networking July 2009

Social Networking has become a way of life for different reasons. One can meet people with similar interests, pass the time, get their own ideas and messages out to the world quickly, find lost friends and relatives, learn, flirt, and more. It all goes along with the acceleration in technology in the field of communication uniting consciousness ... and it will continue.

Previously on Ellie's World I blogged about the way my friend Trae and I met at the end of 1995. The Internet, in its infant stages, featured List Servers where members could place one or more short posts which everyone on the list got to read then either reply to or move on. Lists were based on mutual interests much like social networking. Trae and I were both on a list about UFO's and Aliens.

In truth, Twitter, the hottest way to networking at this time, is a modern version of the same concept with a limit to the number of characters one can type. I think it's cool as I hate to type which is why I hardly ever answer email unless it's business or personal. As with the old list servers, many people will use Twitter to vent. Twitter will have its heyday then fade out of existence with everything else.
