Train Bandits 2022

January 10, 2022

Forget 'porch pirates' and the surveillance cameras they try to avoid. 2022 and the supply chain shortage takes us to the 'rails' which bring packages to stores and homes but often have to wait as workers are out sick while others don't want to unloading cargo. Since Covid began two years ago the workforce in America has changed from people who retire early to those who simply do not want to work at menial jobs for low pay.

Just as with 'smash and grab' in stores with high end merchandise ... thieves are now taking their chances on trains ... and there's lots for the taking.

Today thousands of stolen packages and empty boxes are seen littering the railways as people search for items either for survival, to use at home, or to sell.

In one news video I watched a woman walk away with a blanket and a jacket. Nearby lay boxes of Covid home test kits that got rejected by the bandits.

The reward may be worth the risk to many who are desperate - especially the homeless - because if captured the charge is a misdemeanor and release from prison within 24 hours.

Meanwhile shoppers wait for packages that will never arrive. Tracking will allow retailers to determine what has arrived and what hasn't.

There's one other situation as people wonder what happened to packages they get returned to places like Amazon. Apparently they are not returned to the sellers but are discarded one way or another.
