Memorial Day 2022

The 2022 Memorial Day Parade in Bay Ridge kicked off with the annual parade of interesting motorcycles - no antique cars this year. It began on 79th Street and 3rd Avenue and ended at the entrance to John Paul Jones Park across the street.

Next up marching bands and floats

I went upstairs for a while ... then returned after everyone had left with the exception of a few maintenance workers stacking chairs after ceremonies by local political leaders. There's being patriotic ... and then there's being political.

People walked through the field of flags each one labeled with the name of someone from the area who had died in service to the country. The energies of spirit were very strong as I walked though the Field of Flags - as if they were wanting to manifest in front of me - to talk or simply be acknowledged. The magic of their presence was infectious to me. I spend a lot of my readings these days talking to those who have crossed over. It's all part of the journey from beginning to end.

In Memoriam

Wreaths, flags, the obelisk, and new plaques representing different wars

I met up with a teacher who lives in my building. We got to know each other through a client named Lisa. You may remember Lisa from this 2004 post. I knew Lisa's husband was dying but was saddened to hear that Lisa passed away six months later - both from cancer. They were in their 50's and left behind four children.

The energies were very different this Memorial Day. Maybe it's the death of the 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas last week or perhaps it's just something that everybody feels and no one knows how to name.

Some people think about death a lot .. I never think about it at all. I see my life not as a healer but as a teacher of the facts of life ... and death ... delete.

Over in Manhattan

Gov. Kathy Hochul spoke at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum marking 20 years since first responders ended search and recovery efforts at Ground Zero following the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

In the evening people filled the streets to see Manhattanhenge at 8:12 p.m. in the energies of a New Moon 9° Gemini
