Unburned bricks of clay and basalt make up most of the material the pyramid of Amenemhet III. Today, the pyramid's unique and irregularly shaped body stands out against the vast desert. 12 vaults were found near the pyramid. They contained the bodies of members of the royal family whereas the pharaoh was buried in Hawara.
