In the summer of '69 and I found myself in the Catskill Mountains spending two months in a bungalow colony in Monticello with my husband, Ralph and my oldest daughter, Tracy, who was almost 2 years old at the time. I was 6 months pregnant with my second daughter and feeling fine. Ralph was an entertainer in several of the local hotels, Concord, Nevele, Grossingers, Brickmans, to name a few.
Normally the energies of the Catskills speak to me, but in 1969 they felt off way off.
My closest friend was a woman my age named Linda. We had become friends when I had returned from my Nevada adventure in May 1954. Linda, her husband, and their daughter had also chosen to spend the summer in the Catskills, in a neighboring bungalow colony.
It was the summer of the Woodstock Festival, in a field not far from where we were staying, which brought people from all over, for this historic event. We would all be part of that experience. People spoke of peace as war raged in Vietnam. Little did they know what lay ahead.
From the time of the July 4th celebrations, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
There was an outbreak of chicken pox in Linda's bungalow colony early that month. Everyone who had never had it, got sick. I worried about Tracy, as there was no inoculation for the disease at the time. Luckily she did not catch it. I had chicken pox in the spring of 1954, at age 11, when I was out in Nevada with my mother. This was right after I had my experience with Z in the diamond-shaped UFO in the desert.
In the summer of 1969 it rained 18 consecutive days in NY. I remember thinking 18=9=endings.
My in-laws, Zelda and Irving, were in a bungalow near us, as was their daughter Sydell and her family, which included her husband Paul, her son and a married daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Frank. We were a close family.
Zelda was 69 and had some medical problems so it was decided that a summer upstate would be a good experience for her.
On the evening of July 20, 1969, everyone was discussing the upcoming lunar landing later that evening.
Zelda hadn't been feeling well, so Ralph, Sydell, and Irving took her to the emergency room at a local hospital.
I put Tracy to sleep and relaxed outside the bungalow, watching the clear night sky and connecting with Z.
I knew that Zelda would be crossing over, I could see her soul spark. Z told me that he would be there with her. Z to Z.
From inside the bungalow I could hear the TV news coverage about the impending moon landing of, Apollo 11. I knew that 11 was an important number, but I did not know why. Years later, I would discover that 11 was linked to DNA and the major trigger of the awakening of humanity, the 11:11 digital alarm clock.
As I awaited news about Zelda, the energies were so strong, it was difficult to sleep, but I was pregnant and gave in to the tired feeling that overtook me.
My next memory is Sharon running into my bungalow, waking me up and telling me that Zelda had a heart attack and died. The TV was still on. There was Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong stepping off the 'Eagle' onto the surface of the moon.
He made this famous quote, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
I looked at the clock. It was 10:56 p.m. Zelda had crossed over minutes before.
I remember lying in bed comforting Sharon, who was only 20 years old and had so much pain and loss.
Nine months later Sharon had twins, a boy and a girl, Adam and Zina, A to Z. Zina would grow up and have a baby named Alexander the same day Tracy gave birth to my granddaughter, Joie, October 15, 2002.
Z's ..... Zelda crossed over. My daughter was named Zsia. Sharon's daughter was named Zina.
There was something powerful about the summer of '69, that I will always remember and embrace. There was a reason I returned to the Catskills Mountains to spend the summer there, just as I had done for 6 summers as a child. The Catskill Mountains still remain part of my destiny.
Stargate SG1 is my favorite TV series. It featured a time travel episode where the 4 main characters traveled through the stargate to the year ... 1969.
