Jobs and Businesses Evolve Overnight

July 2007

Most people interview because they meet a job description. They often walk away from one or more interviews with a feeling of confidence, based on job experience and qualifications. They feel they are the perfect 'fit' for the job, especially after being recruited by the company and well received by those who interview them. Along comes the waiting period to find out if they got the job.

Now ... what's been happening is ... with the changes in the way businesses are run and perhaps in management, in the blink of an eye, the job no longer fits the profile of what they interviewed for, having evolved into something else entirely overnight, leaving them confused.

Everything is either changing, upgrading, merging, or ending, curious times that mirror our reality. You really need to stay on top of your game, know there is lots of competition for good jobs, and generally be patient. The economy, and the way we earn, spend, and view money, is changing quickly.
