CBS opened its broadcast with Frank Sinatra singing "My Way" - his image projected inside and outside the Sphere. It's an homage to Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack who helped make Vegas what it is today.

I love the Taylor Swift - Travis Kelce romance - the popular girl and the football superstar. It takes me back to my Lincoln High School cheerleading days when I dated Carl Weiss, the captain of the Madison High Football team.

After High School Carl went to war (Vietnam) and I went to college. Contact lost.

Carl married and had three sons - the eldest, Hollywood director Rob Weiss. I married at the same time and had three daughters. We both divorced in the same year.

We met again in 1989 by synchronicity while driving down Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn ... stopping at the same red light at the same time ... glancing over and recognizing each other.

We briefly rekindle our romance but our destinies were chosen and very different.

Carl was the owner of Casinos International, a gambling travel-package business that set up vacations (junkets) to Vegas. He knew everyone from the hotel owners to the entertainers to the high rollers, of which he was one. Here's a 1993 article about Carl in The New York Times.

I started my metaphysical journey the year we met again (1989) which took me to the MUFON Conference in Vegas on July 4th Weekend. If Carl was there - in the energies of that powerful weekend - our paths never crossed.

Carl was a Damon Runyon type character - driving a big red Cadillac - smoking a cigar - always wanting to be the center of attention - like a mob boss. He helped me invest in his son's screenplay "Amongst Friends" which started Rob's career. Carl did not talk like a Gangster but I found this video interview with Rob were I saw some similarities, but each man has his own agenda.

Ten years ago Carl came to me as a spirit. It was a reunion of a different kind - an energetic connection without the barriers of space and time.

It was a trip down memory lane going back to the summer night we met on the esplanade in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn with the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop - waves splashing up to create rainbows on the rocks below.

This would have made a great screenplay. With Valentine's Day coming up ... thought I would share.

Carl and I may not have had traditional lives but we can both say/sing, "I did it My Way". And the story is not over yet.
