Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the longest serving Senator in history, will step down as GOP leader in November, the Kentucky Republican announced Wednesday, marking the end of an era on Capitol Hill and setting up a high-stakes race for his successor.

I never liked McConnell's politics nor attitude. After seeing him freeze on several occasions while addressing the media - it was obvious that at 82 he is too old for the job. I always maintain that 70 should be the maximum age to run for office and that Supreme Court judges should be elected and only serve for six years.

We look at presidential candidates, Trump and Biden, and know that they are not fit for office. Trump turns 78 this year and Biden 82.

Dianne Feinstein served as a Senator almost till the day she died at age 90. I can still see them wheeling her into court. Then there's Ruth Bader Ginsburg who died at age 90 - who should have stepped down as she became gravely ill - making room for another liberal to step in before Trump packed the court with those he thought would benefit him.

What about Nancy Pelosi who turns 84 on March 26, 2024 and plans to run again this year?

When I look at some of the elderly Congressmen, I always feel it's time for them to step down because politics has always been corrupt but now it's reaching new heights that go beyond their programming and stress levels. When it comes to Trump - many do not want to "kiss the ring" or be party to him becoming a dictator.
