When a country goes into authoritarian rule you don't get a text alert. Things may appear the same on the surface but you know they are broken. You assume the algorithm of reality will shift to correct the errors as in the past so you can keep playing. What's happening in this timeline is not about how a Republic ends. It is about how a Reality ends.
