Loving Vincent is an upcoming film that will be the first fully painted animation feature film. It tells the story of painter Vincent van Gogh. It is written and directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, and is being produced by BreakThru Films and Trademark Films, set up by David Parfitt. The development was funded by the Polish Film Institute, and re-training of professional oil painters to become painting-animators on the film was partially funded through a Kickstarter campaign. The film is being sold by Cinema Management Group and financiers include City of Wroclaw European Capital of Culture in 2016. Each of the film's 62,450 frames is an oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as van Gogh, created by a team of 85 painters.
