Ain't Too Proud

Hate crimes never seem to end ...

April 27, 2019 ... On the way to the theatre people were out and about enjoying a sunny, though chilly day for this time of the year. There is no doubt climate is changing the landscape of not only America, but the world. On this last day of Passover 2019 a high police presence was everywhere as hate crimes unfortunately continue.

3,000 miles away in a synagogue in Poway, California a shooting was about to take place that would ripple all the way to my local Brooklyn community, Crown Heights. Later, when I learned about the shooting of Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, 57, and saw his picture, I recognized him as someone I had met along the way. To date I have read religious leaders and men of faith from all countries around the world most wanting to talk about my take on reality ... interesting. This morning NBC news reported that Rabbi Goldstein is from Brooklyn and still has family here in the Crown Heights Section.

On a happier note

I got to the city early stopping to watch street several performances by Project Dance NYC . This three day event gathers professional, pre-professional and aspiring dancers for training, performances and networking. The weekend is centered around an all day open air dance concert that is free to the public featuring local and international dance artistry in ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop and tap. Dancers gather with a common vision: to bring hope and healing through the universal language of dance. Monday is ... International Dance Day

I met my daughter Zsia and her husband Jon for lunch then off to the theatre.

In this pic Zsia was telling me to zip up my bag as you never know...

Before the curtain went up at the Imperial Theatre

Amazing Show. Everyone loved it!

Visiting the iconic Vessel at Hudson Yards on the way home. No ... I didn't climb to the top
but I'd like to explore this amazing development again in the near future.

Being Targeted - Woodstock 50 Canceled

Tuesday April 30, 2019

People are often targeted based on race, religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation, physical and learning challenges, feeling violated by someone or a group, various affiliations, and more as the haters - the mentally ill and often substance abusers - are acting out as never before.

In our cyber world, anyone with skills does not have to walk into a public place and shoot people. It could be done by computer. Just one click can change the destiny of a nation. It was witnessed during the 2016 presidential election by Russian interference and continues into next year. Cyber security has become a popular career for many students today.

Monday ... Though I had hoped to visit Crown Heights, Brooklyn to talk to clients about the shooting in Poway, California on Saturday, I changed my mind after remembering some people haven't vaccinated their children against measles so you never know. Being enlightened in this case means being informed.

Speaking by phone to my former clients about the Poway shooting takes one to the energies of hate crimes and atrocities experienced by Jews in Europe during WWII. That energy lingers in orthodox communities by loved ones before and during the war including distant members of my family who died at the hands of the Nazis.

Fear and sadness ripple through that close-knit community as well as concerns for other Jewish communities being targeted here and abroad.

One female client, in my age group, told me the world is going crazy because it's coming to an end. She doesn't study metaphysics nor have we discussed my theories. This is based on observation, perhaps something she's read, or simply intuits as psychic abilities often awaken with age. Though she doesn't understand what the end of the world means in terms of the simulation - the concept that life as we know it is about to end - is instilled in her and others across the world.

On another note ... many Orthodox Jews spend summers in upstate New York - Monticello and South Fallsburg - where I spent summers as a child. For decades Monticello was colloquially known as the Borscht Belt - once well-known internationally for its massive Jewish resorts including the Concord and Grossinger's, among other hotels. The 1987 film Dirty Dancing depicts that timeline. When my children were young, my husband Ralph and I would take them upstate to the hotels where he was an entertainer who also sold men's hairpieces. Today those people, places and events remain a fading memory.

Who could forget that fateful summer weekend in 1969 in the Catskills when friends and I went to the Woodstock Festival "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music". 50 years later ... times and concerns have changed. A planned three-day concert event to mark the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival was canceled Monday by the lead investor, saying it was unable to ensure the health and safety of artists and fans. Woodstock 50 was due to have taken place Aug. 16-18 in Watkins Glen in upstate New York with a lineup that included rapper Jay-Z, singer Miley Cyrus and rockers The Killers.

Life makes less sense as time marches on to an uncertain destiny.
People try to sort out the unexplained but more often than not
there are no answers for the rational mind.
