September 11, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11. It was a turning point in the simulation - an insert if you will - that not only ushered in a new millennium but shifted humanity onto an accelerated trajectory - acting as a catalyst for a global shift that altered the very grids governing the evolution of consciousness.

I witnessed the second plane hitting the North Tower from my terrace - an event that at the time seemed surreal. I never forgot - the acrid smell of smoke that wafted through the city including my area, the shocked reactions of friends, family, neighbors, and clients who made it through - or had died and came to me in spirit - as they recounted what they witnessed. So many questions - some of which remain unanswered to this day.

My friend and neighbor Joanne Capestro was one of the more famous survivors, who generally tells her story to the news every year. Her story remains one of the most enduring symbols of survival from the North Tower. Her escape from the 87th floor - immortalized in the iconic photograph taken by Phil Penman and symbolized by the black heels she wore that are now preserved in the National September 11 Memorial & Museum - continues to be a core feature of the city's collective memory.

The 25th anniversary continues to bring these deeply personal accounts to the forefront as the city reflects on how that single day reshaped the global landscape. As part of the milestone anniversary coverage, Spectrum News 1 is running a dedicated series titled "25 Years, 25 Stories," highlighting New Yorkers who lived through the day and its aftermath.

Joanne's recent interview above, alongside those of other survivors, first responders, and witnesses, serves as a vital archive of memories etched in time. Watching these broadcasts, I recognize several individuals who originally sought comfort in my home to connect with loved ones lost that day. Remarkably, before their arrival, my apartment would fill with the distinct scent of smoke - a profound phenomenon we came to interpret as a reassuring sign from those who had perished on that momentous day.

While I have never focused on future US attacks, recent escalations in the Middle East, particularly those involving Iran and its allies, force a deeper reflection. They raise critical questions about the fate of democracy and the destiny of humanity's ancient bloodline which originated in that region and continues to shape ... its final moment.
