Visiting the Dentist During Covid-19

July 1, 2020

I had my teeth cleaned for the first time in seven months which is a long time for me. After entering the dentist's office you fill out a covid-19 form - then they take your temperature then on to the cleaning. My temp is low which is my norm. I wonder if this goes along with my feeling healthiest in cold weather.

The dentist wore gloves, a face mask and a clear plastic shield. The dental assistant wore gloves and a mask. I chose the first appointment after everything was scrubbed down and sterilized the night before with only the dentist and his assistant entering the room before me.

My dentist, his partner in the adjacent office, and I agreed ... Covid-19 is not going away any time soon and will mutate and adapt. In truth we don't know enough about coronavirus to make any accurate predictions. We leave it to the scientists and even they seem to have a divergence of answers often contradicting each other.

Later the news featured a 23-year-old law student who said that she had followed the rules. When SoulCycle reopened she decided to be very careful and take a class. Unfortunately she got Covid-19 and was home for eight days. In her opinion, one way or another, everyone is going to get the virus - symptomatic or asymptomatic.
