Volcanoes have been a favorite site for alien hunters over the years. Now a strange series of lights above the Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico have got conspiracy theorists excited once again. The sightings, they say, suggest aliens are studying Earth's geothermal activity so that they can understand how it works. he lights appeared at the same time as the 18,000ft volcano released four explosions which released gas vapour.

Did a UFO fall into an erupting volcano in Mexico, or is it just more computer generated hocus-pocus? Televisa, a Mexican media company, said Friday it may have captured video of a brightly lit, cigar-shaped UFO appearing to plunge right into the top of Popocatepetl, an active volcano in Central Mexico, which experienced numerous explosions that produced ash clouds on Oct. 25.

The long awaited eruption of Mexico's colossal volcano Popocatepetl ("Smoking Mountain" in old nahuatl language) that took place last Monday December 18, 2000 brought not only fear and uncertainty but also an unexpected event captured by merely accident. Today the main headlines of local newspapers Milenio and Extramex present a photograph of an unknown luminous flying object over the erupting volcano Popocatepetl located near from Mexico City and Puebla. The spectacular photograph taken by reporter Alfonso Reyes on Tuesday at 6:10 AM while making a report of the giant violent awakening present a bright luminous object that contrast with the black clouds of smoke emanated from the volcano crater.
