Theomancy is most commonly known as divination by divinely inspired oracles, such as at Delphi in ancient Greece. Divination by the evocation of sacred names, by consulting spirits or divine beings, by the revelation of the words of God or drawn from the responses of oracles among heathen nations were also known as Theomancy.

The oldest and most popular method of this type of divination is the seance or channeling people on the other side.
