The Tea Room... Then and Now

May 2008

Several of my recent clients, in different parts of the US, have expressed an interest in leaving their jobs and opening a Tea Room. As I typed the words 'Tea Room' I suddenly found myself back in my High School years and a local hangout called the Tea Room, across the street from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn.

Friends and I would meet there after -- school, cheerleading practice, sorority meetings, honor society, or for other social reasons - no drugs, no drinking, just fun. I remember meeting some of my black male friends, after which we would go off and I would watch them sing Rock n' Roll. Those were the days!

I wish we had cell phones then. The old days were great in many ways, but add today's technologies and life would have been far more awesome.

The term Tea Room also brings to mind my days as a Tea Leaf reader here in Brooklyn and my adventures on the QE 2.

I never dressed for the part, but back in the early 1990's I would do these little psychic parties in various Tea Room in Brooklyn, with several other psychics. That was before I became the Psychic in the Pyramid which took me to greater media venues, psychic fairs, fun with John Edward and more.

About the current Tea Room concept ... it generally goes to people who can't handle their current jobs, and want a peaceful, spiritual environment to meet which attracts people of like mind. Easier said than done. One should never forget the current bad economy and what is involved in running a Tea Room.

The idea of a place to hang out and be spiritual is cool, but unless you know how a business is run, think twice and do lots of homework.
