"Hold your hands out to the sun. What do you feel? Heat, of course. But there's pressure as well Ð though you've never noticed it, because it's so tiny. Over the area of your hands, it only comes to about a millionth of an ounce. But out in space, even a pressure as small as that can be important Ð for it's acting all the time, hour after hour, day after day. Unlike rocket fuel, it's free and unlimited. If we want to, we can use it; we can build sails to catch the radiation blowing from the sun." These words were spoken not by a NASA scientist but by a fictional character John Merton in Arthur C. Clarke's short story The Wind from the Sun. If all goes well, Merton's prophetic words are about to become fact.

The expression 'solar sail' has remained in my mind for many years, not as a flying object per se, but as an archetype someone saw in my grid matrix, defining it as rotating movement upward of 12 spiraling cones around 1 similar to the image above.

The solar sail concept was first proposed by German astronomer Johannes Kepler in the seventeenth century, who brought us the Music of the Spheres which has alchemical connotations. According to Kepler, the connection between geometry, sacred geometry, cosmology, astrology, harmonics, and music is through Musica Universalis - the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci Numbers. It's amazing how everything comes back to the same numeric codes which define the blueprint of creation by sound, light and color.

In 1968 Arthur C. Clarke wrote the science fiction novel 2001: A Space Odyssey simultaneously with the film version of the same name. The music for the film was Thus Spoke Zarathustra an orchestral piece by RIchard Strauss. A book Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche famously declares that "God is dead" and goes on to elaborate Nietzsche's conception of the 'will to power' which serves as an introduction to his doctrine of eternal return. This takes us to the alchemical symbol Ouroboros and 2012 the Alchemy of Time and Consciousness linked to the center (eye) of the Milky Way Galaxy.
