End time insanity continues. Here in the US, it started on Tuesday December 11, with the Clackamas Town Center Shooting in Oregon and ended on Friday December 14, with the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting in Newtown, Ct. The shooting of 20 children is what really shook up the country and affected me more than I expected. There's lots on the news about the massacre, as innocent little children, happily looking forward to Christmas, went to school, never to return home.

I shared a tear with President Obama on Friday as he addressed the nation expressing great regret and emotion. I thought about my grandsons, Matthew and Noah, just 15 minutes away from Newtown, in Westport CT., knowing they were safe. I still cry when I watch the evolving story on TV.

Two days later ... I spent Sunday with Noah and Matthew, but we never discussed the shooting, something they earned about from their parents in the best way you can describe tragedy to children. For my family it was a day to buy gifts and sing songs, just what every child's life should be about. For families in neighboring Newtown this was a day to mourn.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims. This is not going to be the end of mass shootings even in schools.

Today marks 10 years since the Sandy Hook School Shooting. On the morning of December 14, 2012, after killing his mother, an isolated and violence-obsessed 20-year-old with unfettered access to firearms shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School. Over the course of 10 minutes, he shot and killed 20 first-graders and six adults before ending his own life.

22 miles away in Westport, CT. two of my grandsons, Noah and Matthew, were in their elementary school when the incident occurred - their school quickly locked down as my daughter and her husband waited for word with other anxious parents in CT.

Before and after Sandy Hook people used to think that each incident was the end of mass shootings in the US but now we know mentally ill young men are striking out as mass shootings have become part of America's landscape not just in schools but anywhere. When and how will it end?
