From Lincoln High School in Brooklyn With Love - Neils and Carols

Neil Diamond: Hands Washing Hands

Once upon a time on West End Avenue in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn I lived next door to a really nice guy, from a great family, having the same cultural heritage as my own. His name is Neil Diamond. He was two years ahead of me in Lincoln High School, also attended NYU, was also Aquarius which meant nothing to teens in those years. In High School you dream about being special and doing something memorable. You know it and feel it. Sometimes you get luck and things turn out that way. In the year of coronavirus Neil has updated his 1969 song "Sweet Caroline" Thanks Neil.~ Ellie from the Block

Neil Sedaka

One week later Neil Sedaka from Coney Island Avenue brings us a special message of Hope to the tune of "Oh! Carol". Neil Sedaka was four years older so I didn't know him from high school, but we did meet once at a school dance and he chose me as they winner of a dance contest. I can still see him sitting at the piano in the excitement of the moment. I was probably all of 14 when he walked over and whispered to me, "One day you will be famous."

The way we were (1959)
