In the days before Wikipedia, it was difficult to find information for the many topics that would fill Crystalinks' pages. There were other online encyclopedias and resources that had merit, but once Wikipedia came along everything changed.
As Wikipedia grew in content and accuracy, so did my ability to reference what I needed for Crystalinks, integrating the files to produce a mini-encyclopedia of its own - with a different twist yet sticking to the facts with as much accuracy as possible.
On January 15, 2011, Wikipedia turned 10 years old. It has been an interesting road of upgrades that continues on for both of us. It is all a work in progress along with our reality - which in an by its creation is about learning. That is why we are here.

Wikipedia celebrates 10 years, but will it survive another decade? CNN - January 17, 2011
Wikipedia is just the latest in a long line of encyclopedias. In fact, encyclopedias have been around in some form or another for 2,000 years. The oldest, Naturalis Historia, written by Pliny the Elder, is still in existence. Ten years after its founding, it's hard to imagine what life was like before Wikipedia. When I was growing up, our family had a dusty set of encyclopedias that were at least 10 years old, which is fine if you're looking up dinosaurs, but not so good if you want to know, for instance, who the current president of the Congo is.
