Superman's Fortress of Solitude

On the 9th season of Smallville we find Clark Kent at the Crystal Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic.
Kal-El, a.k.a. Clark Kent, still can't fly. He's really pissed about this, so he complains to his father, the disembodied voice of Jor-El. Talk about your father grounding you.
Being a modern-day father, Jor-El tells him he can fly, but he has issues ... First off Kal-El still thinks he's human (therein lies a metaphor) and secondly he has the hots for Lois Lane. Dad wants Kal-El to forget about humans and continue his studies, but alas Kal-El is only in his early 20's and you know what that's like for a guy.

The Arctic which is melting down, so Kal-El better focus on finishing his training before Dad disappears in the water (metaphor) and the program ends.
took me back to my 1954 experience.
That was kind of what it was like,
but much faster with far more data
that I could only grasp subliminally
It's always about the eye.
