People love to live by the sea. They stare out at the water and find an inner sense of peace and tranquility. Water represents the feminine, the emotional body, lunar energies that ebb and flow throughout a cycle. Watching a sunrise or sunset over the water, brings balance to most souls and helps people focus, something that so many cannot do. Water is connected to the collective unconsciousness (grids, matrix) through which we virtually experience here. Alas, as the last chapter of the story of humanity on Earth unfolds, coastal areas are being affected, many falling into the sea, or faced with serious flood damage. Waterfront property is always the most sought after in any area, and therefore the most expensive, but today it has its downsides.

Madeira

I've blogged about landslides and mudslides in California, the Philippines, Indonesia, and other areas in the Ring of Fire and Pacific Rim where seismic activity is accelerating at an alarming rate. It would be a matter of time before the Atlantic region would be affected especially after the earthquakes and aftershocks in Haiti.

In February 2010, Madeira experienced heavy flooding and mudslides after a violent storm,

killing at least 42 people and causing extensive damage.

Madeira is a Portuguese archipelago that lies in the mid Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the Autonomous regions of Portugal, with Madeira Island and Porto Santo Island being the only inhabited islands. Madeira is part of the EU as an outermost region of the European Union. It was discovered by Portuguese sailors some time between 1418 - 1420. Madeira is considered to be the first discovery of the exploratory period initiated by Henry the Navigator of Portugal. It is a popular year-round resort, noted for its Madeira wine, flowers, and embroidery artisans, as well as its New Year's Eve celebrations that feature a spectacular fireworks show, which is the largest in the world according to the Guinness World Records. Its harbor, Funchal, is important due to its commercial and passenger traffic and for being a major stopover for cruisers en route from Europe to the Caribbean.

Mid-Atlantic Ridge

The Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR) is a mid-ocean ridge, a divergent tectonic plate boundary located along the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, and the longest mountain range in the world. It separates the Eurasian Plate and North American Plate in the North Atlantic, and the African Plate from the South American Plate in the South Atlantic. The Ridge extends from a junction with the Gakkel Ridge (Mid-Arctic Ridge) northeast of Greenland southward to the Bouvet Triple Junction in the South Atlantic. Although the Mid-Atlantic Ridge is mostly an underwater feature, portions of it have enough elevation to extend above sea level. The section of the ridge which includes the island of Iceland is also known as the Reykjanes Ridge.

Occurrences of Tsunamis in the Atlantic Ocean

Islands of volcanic origin, such as the Canaries, have an especially large potential for triggering a tsunami. That the Canaries constitute a danger was shown 300,000 years ago when a part of the island El Hierro slid into the sea, triggering a mega-tsunami which carried rocks for many hundreds of metres into the interior of the east coast of what is today the USA. The danger of a similar island collapse is seen by scientists particularly at the island of La Palma in the Canaries.

"Atlantis Rising" is a metaphor for human consciousness rising at the end of time.
