The Librarian, Quest For the Spear

The TNT Channel aired The Librarian, Quest For the Spear another 'save the world' film with the usual twists and turns. We quickly learn that the Spear of Destiny has three parts, one of which has been stolen from a mystical Library. Our hero Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) plays a nerd who has just become The Librarian, as part of a special destiny and must recover the stolen relic.

Along the way he is teamed with a tall, slim, long-haired British woman named Nicole Noone (Sonya Walger) shades of Lara Croft who has issues of her own. There were shades of the film Stargate borrowing their theme music at one point. Flynn is a Daniel Jackson type character a nerd at the beginning who becomes a hero using both his brains and brawn, his innocence endearing us to his character.

Flynn gleans a great lesson from his mother which opens the doorway to his adventures as the Librarian. 'Life is not just about what is in the mind but what is in the heart.' Life our physical reality is about experience through emotions.

The metaphors in the movie included a Serpent Brotherhood (snakes, DNA, kundalini rising) and a book, of course written in the Language of the Birds. Thoth, the Great Pyramid, Quetzalcoatl and the Pyramid of Kukulcan the Chirps of the Quetzal Bird.

The magic question in the film is, "When does a bird become a bird again?"

My answer: "When its soul flies free in the alchemy of consciousness."
