June, Gay Pride Month
The gay experience is rapidly showing itself in all walks of life, as people come out and express who they really are and what makes them happy. It is the only way to free the soul. "I am who I am .... and I will embrace that part of my journey."
In some societies homosexuality is acceptable but in many cultures this remains a great taboo. Just another challenge and more drama in a reality that is dysfunctional on so many levels.
Here in NYC, anything goes. Many people have gay friends, especially in the creative and esoteric realms where gay is often the norm. Why are gay men more open to metaphysical experiences? Some believe it is linked to the feminine energies or higher frequencies of thought. Personally, I love all of my gay friends, especially the men as they are so humorous. As with all of us, they, too, have the usual issues.
NYC has a large Gay Pride Parade. In 2005 it falls on the same day as my next workshop, June 26.
Here's a funny story... Back in 1993 I was the 'Satellite Psychic'. Every Sunday from 11am, 2 pm, my friend Tom, the producer of the show, and I, would go to the top of the Empire State Building, to broadcast our live TV show around the world. Anyone with a satellite dish could tune in, and call in, as part of the show was about answering listeners' question, while the rest of the show brought metaphysical guests who were visiting NYC from around the world.
One Sunday, after Tom and I left the building, walking down 5th Avenue as we always did, we found ourselves in the midst of a parade. The music, the costumes, the thrill of it all was very exciting, not to mention the hot gyrating men, wearing almost nothing, standing on top of floats! Whew!
I asked Tom what was going on and he explained about the Gay Pride Parade. His brother is gay and was somewhere in the group of bystanders.
Women with bare breasts don't do it for me ... but Tom, who is straight, did not complain.
Watching an endless parade of hot men was worth the walk! Gay men in NYC work out and generally stay in great shape.
All in all, the event is very exciting on many levels.
We all continue to march on ... trying to make sense of the journey.
