I often write about personal and metaphoric synchronicities with Coney Island. It is in this oceanfront community that I spent the first 11 years of my life. Coney Island is just down the highway from where I live today. Sunday, my daughter Nikki and her family, and Matthew's girlfriend Sasha and her family, visited Coney Island to say goodbye to the amusement park, permanently closing after Labor Day. Sasha's mom is expecting a third baby that day. It was a bitter sweet moment for Nikki as the amusement area was part of her childhood, and embraced my own. It is the closing of a chapter on Labor Day and a new birth (reference: Sarah and Alexander). Cones always take me to 12 Around 1. Closure of a cycle (cyclone ride) on Labor Day, speaks of much more.
Life is an amusement park, the rides, the clowns (dramas), the fun and thrills. Enjoy it while you can. It is about the close.
