Worms in the News on April Fool's Day 2009

On April Fool's Day, when those who like mischief on all levels come out to play, CNN warned about Conficker a computer worm that surfaced in October 2008 and targets the Microsoft Windows operating system. Although the origin of the name "conficker" is not known with certainty, Internet specialists and others have speculated that it is a German portmanteau fusing the term "configure" with "ficken", the German word for "fuck." Personally I don't see damage by that worm, but as the students complete school next month ... beware as they come out to play.

In 16th Century German, when people were not as enlightened about religion as we are today - we find the Diet of Worms - more Papal Bull.

Over in the animal kingdom we find another worm (genetic study) Dance of the Supermodel Worm. "Though she's brainless, C. elegans has outwitted scientists for decades. Now that they've learned the secret to her magic motion, she's about to become the best understood organism in the world."

Then of course there is the apple in the worm (knowledge) - the worm or snake in the Garden of Eden metaphoric tale which represents human DNA.

Last, but not least, we have the Apple computer

not affected by the latest worm and definitely filled with knowledge
that takes you from the red (emotional games) to the blue light.
