Chanukah, Thanksgivukkah, Thanksgiving

Friday November 29, 2013 - The Day After Thanksgiving

The weather in the U.S. did not co-operate as millions of travelers set out on their destinations to be with friends and family for Thanksgiving. By Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, the sun was out, people gathered, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade happened, the world watched Comet ISON, football ruled, and the chaos and frenzy of Black Friday officially began. It has not been an easy year with extreme climate changes, accelerating natural disasters, increased global frustration and violence, political upheaval, and more. This may or may not be End Times, but it sure feels like it's all going somewhere.

Thursday my family and I gathered in New Jersey to celebrate the holidays and appreciate how lucky we are. We ate turkey for Thanksgiving, latkes (potato pancakes) in honor of Chanukah, lighting the Menorah at sundown, shared memories of the past and expressed our hopes for the future.
