Tonight's sunset looked like Halloween's Full Harvest Moon - the bright orange color created by an effect called Rayleigh Scattering - a result of toxic smoke from Canadian wildfires.
Here at home wildfire season began in several states compounded by a weeks-long heat dome in the south - creating record-breaking high temperatures. Across much of the northern hemisphere we find additional record-breaking heat waves, global flooding and mudslides. It always amazes me when people seem surprised by these long predicted climate events.
The setting sun gave rise to a New Moon 24° Cancer. So much water everywhere as many areas in the US Northeast and globally have been inundated due to flooding and other climate changes.
We all know how climate change is affecting the world's oceans and marine life. Saturday - just across the street from here - a fisherman named Ralphie was surprised to see a whale breaching under the Verrazano Bridge. I sometimes walk under the bridge at that point to take a pic - stopping to say hello to the fishermen.
Atlantic Ocean whale-watching is common along the shores of Long Island - as well as the Hudson and East Rivers of NYC. This whale may have been making his way in either direction. I'm sure there were - and will be others in the future.
All sentient life forms are being intuitively guided to a change in direction as the landscape of reality takes on a new hue.
Minutes before I had taken this pic as the storm approached.
